The Nautical Institute Annual Picnic - 2009




Venue: Sugar Land Memorial Park at 15300 University Blvd., Sugar Land, TX


Date: On Saturday, May 16th 2009,  From 1000 - 1600 hrs


The US Gulf Branch of the Nautical Institute would like to invite the Maritime Community (and families) to join NI Members, and our families, at a picnic. This event is planned as a way for eligible individuals in the community to get to know and perhaps join the Nautical Institute. But more important, this is an opportunity for the Nautical Institute members to have fun with their families and to meet others in the area.


Games/prizes for the youngsters have been arranged. If your family has a favorite game, bring it to share. There are two and a half miles of 8-foot wide granite gravel walking / jogging / biking trails. There is ample opportunity for kite flying. There is also a canoe launch into the Brazos River that borders the park. You might take out a canoe (you will need your own canoe) or choose to operate a model boat in the lake.


Please understand that the Venue does not allow any alcoholic beverages.


Bring your family, picnic and drinks. There is a picnic pavilion, grills, a restroom building and ample parking. If you would like the NI to provide your family’s food and drink, then please RSVP by email to the Branch Secretary at secretary@niusgulf.com with your name and the number of persons attending. If you chose to do this, please arrange to contribute $10 per person or $20 per family by cash or check.

DIRECTIONS:


From Houston: Take 59 South towards Sugar Land. Pass the commercial parts of Sugarland, but before the Brazos River, take the University Boulevard exit. At the intersection make a left onto University Boulevard. The park will be on your right hand side at the T-intersection with Commonwealth Boulevard.


 


From Richmond/Rosenberg: Take 59 North towards Sugar Land. Once you go over the Brazos River, take the University Boulevard exit. At the intersection make a right onto University Boulevard. The park will be on your right hand side at the T-intersection with Commonwealth Boulevard.
